During the following assignment, titled "Union County Conquest," students were guided through google maps or other location services on a laptop to complete the assignment. By doing so, students were able to locate key areas in their community that they wanted to "conquer."
For my informal checks, I created questions are administered them through Plickers. Students were given a Plickers card. When I posted a certain question on the projector, students raised their card in a certain way to answer the question. The cards contain bar codes with the letters A, B, C, and D on all four sides of the code. Students select their answer by holding their selected answer on top. For example, if a student chose A, the card would look like the following picture. As students held their answer up, I scanned their codes with the Plickers app on my iPhone. The app would gather the data on the percentage of students that correctly answered the question.
