The first two performances tasks are assignments that challenged students to create a persuasive letter and an opinion piece. The persuasive letter puts students in the shoes of Latin American or United States officials, depending on their choices. Essentially, students either defend or critique U.S. involvement in Latin America by writing letters to the opposing officials. The opinion piece puts students in the shoes of a journalist covering the Sepoy Rebellion. Students use their knowledge of the Sepoy Rebellion to either justify or critique the actions of the Sepoys.
The third performance task placed students in control of an imperialist nation. Students pretended that Ingomar was the most powerful nation in Union County. The questions in the assignment prompted students to design a plan to conquer another area in Union County. Students are challenged to use their knowledge about the types of imperialism and imperialist nations to complete the assignment.
